Rajesh started his career with Sundaram Finance Ltd., working across South, West, Central and North India. At Sundaram Finance, he set new benchmarks in business and fair practices on collections and turned around branches to profitable ones in quick time. He was commended for “Best Practices on NPA Management” in the AGM of Sundaram Finance during that period.
After a successful stint in SF, Rajesh joined Citigroup and topped new SME client acquisitions for the Hyderabad business. His business acumen together with an innate understanding of SME Business Risk won him the much coveted “Early Warning Award” from Citigroup for best business practices.
Rajesh was one of the early employees at Yes Bank and was a part of the start-up team building the SME franchise for the bank. He was Heading South India and his portfolio stood the test of time for its quality and robustness throughout his decade long stint with Yes Bank. Amidst many recognitions, he was conferred with the highest award of Yes Bank,”The Golden Pin”, which is the CEO’s award for” Institution Building”.
He re-joined Sundaram Finance to set up the SME vertical for Sundaram. In his last assignment with Sundaram Finance as “National Head-SME & Emerging Corporates” he was not only instrumental in setting up the SME business for Sundaram, but also handled the covid crisis well, by introducing some of the best risk management practices which kept the portfolio in good stead.
Having worked in MNC Banking, Private Banking and NBFCs , Rajesh brings a 360 degree view of how SME offering is viewed by different financial entities, especially in the high potential but less penetrated rural and semi urban SME markets.
Rajesh has a business degree from IIM Bangalore and is certified on “Managing SME Business in Global Context” by ESCP Business School, Madrid.
